Gun Owner Obsessed with Obama - Sounds Familiar

The Christian Science Monitor published a wonderful article about the White House shooter.

Dog Gone already covered it, but I liked the "obsession" angle.

A man with an apparent obsession with President Barack Obama has been arrested in Pennsylvania after the Secret Service discovered two bullets struck the White House while the president was away, authorities said Wednesday.
What's your opinion? Too bad there's not a simple test for obsessive thinking, we could recommend that those guys be disarmed too. That would probably bring it up to 75% (only kidding).

Please leave a comment.

  1. I love the spin "Gun Owner" in the title.

Crazy criminal nutjob would be more accurate--but then that just points out that this is story of gun control FAIL.

  3. Mikeb302000,

You said that you're only kidding, but as Dog Gone observed, humor is a matter of perspective.

  4. But the gunloons ARE obsessed with trashing Obama. He can do no right in their minds. Just check their blogs to see it. It doesn't matter how much his record supports gun rights, they will never see him in a rational light. Just listen to the rantings of the gunloon king, Wayne LaPierre, and how he claimed Obama's willingness to bend to the gun crowd is somehow a conspiracy to gain their trust before taking away their gunz! Obama is the boogeyman to these guys. So it's no wonder at all that one of their own shot at the White House.

  5. Baldr Odinson,

Obama signed a bill that included concealed carry in national parks. I'm pleased that he did, but what else has he done on this subject?

My objection to him is that he brings an olive branch to a knife fight. Look at the healthcare reform act. Where's the public option? What's the delay in enacting the provisions? He's weak.

He lost my vote when he supported the Welfare Check for Wallstreet as a senator. I was going to vote for him, but that called his judgement into question. Of course, McCain supported it as well, so I was left with third party choices that year.

  6. third party--you're a Paultard, Greg Camp? That would explain two things. The first would be your libertarchism (you hate gummint, except when it gives you what you want). The second would be your slavish devotion to morally bankrupt assholes like Weenie LaPew.

There is a citation for this, yes? Or are you just quoting LGF or Stormfront?

  7. Democommie,

In your opinion, I'm obliged to vote for a Democrat or a Republican, even when I don't support what either is saying? Sometimes, the only acceptable choice is to make a protest vote. Sometimes, voting for a third party will actually bring about change--see the origins of the Republican Party.

Or do you really mean the "commie" part of your handle? Do you really want a one-party state, in which I can vote for the Party or die?

  8. Greg Camp:

So you are a Paulist, or a teatardlican.

You can vote or not vote for anyone you like, as can everyone else. I actually would like to see a genuinely multi-partite form of government.

The teabaggists are dogwhistle racists who will vote republican regardless the candidates qualifications (as was proven by the 2008 vote for PalinCain.

Ron Paul is also a racist, as well as a hypocrite and a fan of the Austrian school of teh burnin' stoopit economics.

  9. Good catch, FWM. My original title was, "Obsessed with Obama and a gun - Sounds familiar." But it didn't flow. I like the new one much better.

  10. Democommie,

Have you heard of the Green Party? How about the other parties that ran candidates in 2008?

Have I heard of the Green Party? Uh, have you any idea how they feel about guns? Voting for a candidate that has NO chance of winning--or getting federal matching funds--is as stupid as staying home.

  12. Democommie,

The Green Party candidate for U.S. Senate here in Arkansas in 2008 holds views on firearms largely in line with mine. The Greens aren't monolithic. Now, as for voting for third parties, doing so is only wasted until it isn't, as the Republican Party shows. My vote really is only wasted when I vote for someone whose judgement I can't trust and whose views are radically different from mine.

  13. Good point democommie.

I've checked out the Green party/ I don't see really where they have much congruence with Greg Camp.

  14. John Gray, the Green Party candidate for the Senate seat formerly held by Blanche Lincoln, declared views similar to mine on guns. The national party is different, and I don't typically support their candidates. I voted for Bob Barr, having no other viable choice.

  15. GC, don't you find it a bit disingenuous to state that you support the green party when only one candidate has views similar to yours and the green party as expressed in the party platforms does NOT agree with you?

You support a single green party candidate, not the green party or its platform.

  16. Dog Gone,

I've said that I agree with some of the Green agenda, and when they've been largely on my side, I've voted for a few Green candidates. I was reminding Democommie in an earlier comment here that there were other candidates running besides the two flavors of the same major party.

  17. Bob Barr is Libpublican. He became the Libertarian's candidate after finding out he would get no support from the RNC.

This libertarian's take on Barr is interesting:
