More on Chuck's Gun Shop

OpEdNews via democommie

We've talked about Chuck's before.

2,370 crime guns were traced to just one gun shop in suburban Chicago between 1996 and 2000. Over 1,300 were traced since 2008 and 20 percent of all Chicago crime guns used within a year of purchase were traced to the same shop. Yet far from being shut down as a virtual ATM for crime guns, Chuck's Gun Shop, in Riverdale, has actually brought suit against Cook County calling a $25 gun tax that went into effect April 1 unfair.

I guess Chuck's is an example of gun laws not being enforced, which the gun-rights fanatics fight for and then blame on us.

  1. Mikeb, the only laws that should apply to gun stores are the ones that apply to any small business. Guns should be treated as any other legal product. Until you realize that the emphasis of law needs to be on actual harmful behavior, not on a long list of objects, you'll never have much appeal in this country--beyond the leftist enclaves that already sing your tune.

    1. That's crap, Greg and you know it. Guns are regulated for a reason. When a gun shop fails to secure his inventory or turns a blind eye to guns being sold to the wrong people, it should lose its license.

    2. No, I don't know it, and neither do you. You believe it, but here's something that humanity has known for a long time: Belief and knowledge are two separate things.

    3. Greg, haven't I told you, It may be reality, but it is not the truth.

  2. What gun laws did Chuck break? Operating a gun shop outside of Chicago is not a crime. Inside Chicago- that's another story.

    1. It looks like Chuck's was assisting in thousands of straw purchases. But, the inability to account for a few items in their inventory is what will bring them down. They're dirty. You can't have that many guns used in crime traced to your shop and not be.

    2. All you need is proof of him assisting in just one straw purchase, but you probably don't have that. Gun shops that operate near high crime areas are probably going to have more guns show up at crime scenes. You you intend to run gun shops out of high crime/low income areas?

    3. C'mon, TS, not THAT many guns.

    4. OMG! A couple THOUSAND over a couple Decades! Wonder how many guns passed through the shop that WEREN'T used in crime?

Also, it's worth noting that these guns account for less than 2 "Fast and Furious" ops in more than twice the time. To err is human--to really fuck things up takes the government.

    5. Well then if there are THAT MANY, it should be pretty easy to find ONE where a crime was committed, shouldn't it?

    6. I don't know what they found yet, do you? Except the 2300 crime guns traced back.

    7. But based on that, you're more than happy to infer and then tell us that they Must be committing crimes and need to be shut down.

Aw--"gun-rights fanatics." What a precious term you've invented out of whole cloth, herbivore! That's downright hilarious. Thank you!
