California GOP Candidate Tim Donnelly Warns Jerry Brown with Bizarre and Empty Threats

SF Gate

Conservative Southern California a Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, a Tea Party favorite and former Minuteman, kicked off his campaign for governor at the state GOP convention Saturday, warning that Democratic Governor Jerry Brown may be face recall “if he wants to erase the Second Amendment” by signing tougher gun laws.

Referencing recent recalls in Colorado in which the National Rifle Association weighed in on gun rights, Donnelly said, “those winds can cross the Rockies, and recalls can happen here.” And if Brown wants to “deprive” Californians of their rights to carry firearms, “then he will pay the price at the ballot box,” he warned, as conservative backers cheered.

I don't suppose Mr. Donnelly knows what NRA really stands for in California.

I love it when people allow a celebrity, or heaven forbid a comedian, define a group of people. You are correct, that California being the philosophical equivalent of New York or New Jersey, make it not likely that there will be Republican win next election.
Though it was not so long ago that there was a successful Gubernatorial recall. They also seem to use their initiative and referendum provision fairly often also.

  2. What's bizarre or empty? Do you recall Gray Davis? (Pardon the pun.)

It appears the winds are blowing in the Rockies again:

"Recall organizers are not stopping with the successful recall elections of former Sen. Angela Giron and former Senate President John Morse. They are now re-focusing their efforts on senator Evie Hudak (D-Arvada and Westmister).
Recall Hudak Too organizers filed paperwork to begin collecting signatures to trigger another recall election this month and have 60 days to knock on doors. They need 18,962 signatures to trigger the recall."

"Hudak has been mired in controversy leading up to the recall, particularly during the gun control bill public hearings after she rejected testimony from Amanda Collins, a rape survivor, denying that carrying a gun could have prevented the crime.
Hudak told Collins that “actually, statistics are not on your side,” and “chances are, that if you had had a gun, then he would have been able to get that from you, and possibly used it against you.”

If the democrats were to lose this seat, there would be no Democratic majority in the Senate anymore.

  4. Time will tell, but I don't really see this extremist tough-talker going anywhere.
