Maybe we need to give them a waterboard baptism...

story found here:

Given what George Washington's reaction was to Shays' Rebellion and The Whisky Rebellion, I seriously find the comparison to Cliven Bundy to be pretty off.

  1. Call them taliban and suggest waterboarding them. That's sure to cool things down and help this end without bloodshed!

Laci, Please go make sweet sweet love to a honey locust.

  2. "Metro Police say they are investigating concerns a U.S. congressman raised about actions of militia members in northeast Clark County, but they’re not saying much more about the situation surrounding Bunkerville rancher Cliven Bundy and his armed supporters."

Metro Police Sgt. Jesse Roybal said today the department had received Horsford’s letter, was aware of complaints and allegations and were “investigating each report. As of this time, there are no criminal charges in any of these cases.”

"Pressed further, Roybal said police were trying to verify Horsford’s claims but Roybal was not certain to what extent that investigation had gone.
Roybal added the sheriff was "in contact with multiple people in elected office" regarding the matter.
If someone does encounter the claimed checkpoints or people with guns near churches or schools, Roybal also said, "they need to report it to (Metro)."
Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak, who sits on Metro's Fiscal Affairs Committee, said he hadn't heard anything from Metro about Horsford’s concerns.
"I trust the sheriff to handle this," Sisolak added."

I think its a shame that the Sheriff wasn't called directly at the time of the event, though I can understand someone's reluctance to call in the presence of armed strangers. I would have dropped a dime on them as soon as I drove around the bend in the road.
But then, the BLM was doing something similar,

"The Bureau of Land Management quietly dismantled its so-called “First Amendment areas” in northeastern Clark County on Thursday, as the fight over Cliven Bundy’s cattle widened into a national debate about states’ rights and federal land-use policy."

  3. I think you got the wrong idea on many levels.

Yes, as a matter of fact those guys. Around Africa & the Middle East there are indeed militants that do the very things described above.

In the Whiskey Rebellion Washington called on his cred so to speak and rode out himself to make a point to the veterans who were rebelling. He wanted order without the use of force and he got it cuz he was smart and he loved his countrymen and everyone knew he "earned it" so to speak.

As far Shay's Rebellion goes . . . I find Jefferson's thoughts on the matter to be enlightening - "I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing."

    &

"as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. Unsuccessful rebellions, indeed, generally establish the encroachments on the rights of the people which have produced them. An observation of this truth should render honest republican governors so mild in their punishment of rebellions as not to discourage them too much. It is medicine necessary for the sound health of government.”

The Founding Fathers were a complex mix of men. They were still very much men of their time and got some things wrong as well as right. Do tell Mike do you agree w/ Jefferson, Washington, Franklin, Adams etc. on the 2A or is it still "bullshit"?
Do you think they got it right when they used guns against "The Crown"? How about when the original state constitutions were drafted they contained religious requirements to hold state office?

P.S. If cops & soldiers stop locals at armed checkpoints and wield weapons near schools and places of worship do those acts become less worrisome?

    1. I've asked Laci repeatedly to comment on the legitimacy of the United States, given his continual assertion that rebellion against government is illegal, but he won't reply.
