About the Weapons Manufacturers

  1. Interesting that he condemns manufacturers and investors, but makes no mention of end users. Perhaps they should start with the grid zone eliminators that one commenter here is so fond of.
One problem with his condemnation is what exactly do the Christians who follow his guidance do when attacked by people who either don't care what religion they are or attack them BECAUSE they are Christians.

    1. "Grid zone eliminators?"

Periodically Laci likes to trot out the videos of military in a sort of resistance is futile type of mindset.

    2. "Grid zone eliminators?"

The nickname of the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS), which is said to be capable of killing everyone within a square kilometer with one salvo, and its use against freedom-loving Americans by the U.S. government is Laci's fondest fantasy.

  2. Those who continue to work for an organization that encourages the rape of children and has for century's... are the ones who need to reflect on their Christianity..The pope seems like a decent man but unless he is willing to raze the catholic church and with it all its transgressions against humanity through out the centuries so as to get a fresh start he really should keep his mouth shut...of course I have no understanding as to why any rational person would want to call themselves a christian or a Muslim or a Jew

    1. You believe the Catholic Church "encourages the rape of children?"

Isn't it true that they do no such thing? Prehaps they've badly handled the wrongdoers in many cases, but they don't condone it.

When you make exaggerated ridiculous statements like that, it says more about you then it does about them.

    2. I never said they condoned it Mike..But by their lack of proper action on the matter for possibly centuries they certainly encouraged the continuation of it....

You call them wrongdoers the countless victims including my father call them Monsters

    3. So, because your father was a victim, you condemn the whole institution. That's really smart.

It reminds me of the way you complain that I condemn all gun owners for the actions of the bad ones, something I'm not guilty of, by the way, but you have said that right? Now you're actually doing that same thing with the church.

    4. I do condemn the whole institution but it aint just because some sick fuck raped my father repetitiously without being held accountable by the depraved fucking institution that you defend..

  3. What's next for our awesome, hippie pope? War is inherently immoral unless it is waged solely to prevent genocide? He's sounding more like a Methodist with every new proclamation.

Myself, I am as always, naïve and child-like. I always thought that it was criminally immoral for countries such as the U.S.A., China, Germany and France to supply the world with weapons for their wars and oppression of their peoples. Apparently, Obama and GWB before him would not agree with me.

I would imagine that U.S. exports of weapons amount to a great deal more than just military and police purposes. I doubt that the Pope is strongly in favor of private weapon sales. However, in context, it appears that he was talking about weapons industries on a global scale related to military conflict and control.

George, for what it is worth, Pope Francis did establish the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors in 2014. The laws and standards all appear to be in place as of May of this year. He appointed American Bishop, Sean P. O'Malley as the head of the organization.

  4. From the article (excerpt):

People who manufacture weapons or invest in weapons industries are hypocrites if they call themselves Christian, Pope Francis said on Sunday.

So when is Pope "Frankie the Hat" Francis going to divest the Vatican of the hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of Sigs, Glocks, Steyrs, and H&Ks that the Swiss Pontifical Guard carries in defense of his Holy hide?

    1. I expand on that thought here (excerpt):

His criticism of those who invest in weapons manufacture is especially puzzling. Anyone, after all, who purchases a weapon could fairly be said to have invested in the manufacture of them. And as it turns out, the Pontifical Swiss Guard, who defend the Vatican and its most famous resident, are lavishly equipped with some pretty hefty investments in Sig-Sauer, Heckler & Koch, Steyr Mannlicher, and Glock semi-automatic handguns, personal defense weapons, assault rifles, and submachine guns, not to mention whoever manufactures the swords, halberds, and other more traditional weapons carried by his guards.

  5. I take it the Swiss Guards will be carrying Tasers from now on?

Also, where were the allies supposed to get their bombs for bombing the rail lines leading to the camps? Is it somehow ok to buy from the heathen weapons makers, just not to make the weapons yourself?

This Pope should, like Mike P. in Chicago, should spend some more time in the Bible and less time going off the reservation--of course, that might lead to . . . "reformation" of their ways . . .

    1. You carry a gun to your church.

It's just a country club for you, my friend.

  6. This from the leader of an organization that made a deal with Mussolini to secure their Vatican nation. That deal was for the church to support Mussolini and his regime, not to mention the other "deals with the devil" the church made during WW II. The church has no moral standing when it comes to war and death. Go back further and you will find the old popes ordering the death of those who did not follow their religion. Sounds familiar, like today's Muslim extremists.
The Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors in 2014, yet , the pope still refuses to allow attorney's, or the courts to see the documented evidence the church has, of its own members molesting children. Hypocrites should not be listened to, and it's hard to understand why people give their money and support to such a criminal organization.

    1. You guys love to hate. You hate government, you hagte church, you hate authority. You should grow up, things are not as black and white as your simplistic world view suggests.

    2. " You should grow up, things are not as black and white as your simplistic world view suggests."..... because speaking against an organization that for centuries has protected child rapist is a simplistic world view right Mike

    3. So, Mikeb, are you denying Anon's account of the history between the Roman Catholic Church and Mussolini, or are you claiming that it's no big deal, and does nothing to undermine the Church's moral authority?

    4. The churches digressions are fact, if you want to support such a group, go ahead. I suppose you support the use of the confederate flag also. It's not hate, it's calling criminal, immoral acts, criminal, immoral acts. Thanks for defining which side of criminal, immoral acts you are on.

    5. Anonymous, I don't know who you're talking to or what your point is. Maybe you need to name yourself so it won't get confusing again.

George it is a simplistic world view to take this admittedly awful aspect of the Catholic Church and arrive at wholesale condemnation. My experience was 12 years of Catholic school, 5 or 6 years of summer camp run by Salesian brothers and I was never touched. Further, I never heard of anyone who was. I know it has happened, but the percentages are more or less like the ones you keep throwing out there about gun misuse compared to the 100 million gun owners.

    6. As i said above my condemnation of the church stems from alot more than the failure of the church to keep children in its charge safe...

"I know it has happened, but the percentages are more or less like the ones you keep throwing out there about gun misuse compared to the 100 million gun owners."....perhaps the numbers are similar we will never know the full extent of the crimes committed by those who enjoy the protection of the church because the church will not ever tell the whole truth about its complicity in those crimes....

    7. Yours was the first response under my comment. Of course I thought your remarks (which were quite clear) were responding to my comment. You must get confused easily. I don't see how if I had a name, or not, would end your confusion. My response would be the same under any name.
